Terms of Service.

Last updated: 13 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Pen Scholar’s website and services. Please read them alongside our How It Works page, which explains the coaching-and-feedback boundary these terms are built around.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By requesting a quote, placing an order, or otherwise using Pen Scholar’s website or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please don’t use our services.

2. Description of Services

Pen Scholar provides academic coaching, editing, feedback, formatting, and related support services, delivered through the four-step process described on our How It Works page: Consult, Plan, Draft & Refine Together, and Finalize & Support.

We coach, edit, and give feedback on research and writing that’s yours. We do not write it for you. This boundary applies to every tier and every service we offer.

3. Your Responsibility for Academic Integrity

Academic integrity policies vary by institution and program. It is your responsibility to check your own institution’s rules on receiving outside coaching, editing, or feedback before using our services, and to use any work we help you develop in a way that complies with those rules.

Pen Scholar is not responsible for how you choose to submit or represent work that you have written, even where we’ve provided coaching, editing, or feedback on it.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use our services independently. Users under 18 may use our services with the involvement and consent of a parent, guardian, or educational institution.

5. Quotes & Pricing

Quotes are calculated individually based on word count, academic level, subject area, turnaround time, and service complexity, as described on our Pricing page. A quote is an estimate until you confirm the order; the final price is confirmed before any payment milestone is due.

TierTypical scope
BronzeLanguage Refinement Essentials
SilverAcademic Editing
GoldResearch & Publication Support
PlatinumVIP Research Partnership

6. Payment Terms

Most projects are billed in milestones agreed before work begins, rather than entirely upfront. We accept major cards and secure digital wallets through PCI-compliant payment processors. Prices are typically quoted in USD unless otherwise agreed.

7. Revisions Policy

Revision rounds are agreed with your specialist during the Plan stage and vary by tier -- from a set number of rounds on Bronze and Silver, to unlimited revisions within the agreed scope on Platinum. “Within agreed scope” means revisions that address the original brief, not a substantially new project.

8. Cancellations & Refunds

You may cancel before work begins on a milestone for a full refund of that milestone. Once a specialist has started work on a milestone, fees for the work already completed are non-refundable, though we will always discuss a fair resolution if something has gone wrong on our end.

9. Turnaround Time & Delays

Timelines are agreed upfront based on your deadline and the scope of work. If a delay becomes likely on our end, we will tell you as early as possible and discuss options rather than staying silent until the deadline passes.

10. Confidentiality & Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of the research, ideas, and writing you bring to us. We do not claim ownership over your work, and we do not resell, reuse, or publish it. See our Privacy Policy for how your materials are handled.

11. Prohibited Uses

  • Submitting material you don’t have the rights to share with us (e.g. another student’s unpublished work without permission).
  • Using our services for any unlawful purpose.
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusive behaviour toward our team or specialists.
  • Attempting to circumvent agreed payment terms or chargeback a legitimately delivered order in bad faith.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our services are provided on an “as is” basis. We do not guarantee any specific grade, publication outcome, or admission result -- those depend on factors outside our control, including your own work and your institution’s evaluation.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pen Scholar’s liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific order in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

14. Termination

We may suspend or end our services to you if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached -- for example, prohibited use as described above. You may stop using our services at any time.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which Pen Scholar operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith discussion between the parties.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use our services after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
